The Studio

ANGELIC VOICES is a music studio in West Maple Ridge. Head instructor and owner, Angela Sawyer, has taught a variety of children’s music programs and felt Musikgarten surpassed them all with it's nurturing, holistic approach to music education. Teaching the whole child in a way that all children can be successful - all the while making music with other families and building community. With a folk music base, children learn songs and dances from around the world while learning to connect with different cultures. Research shows music heals by shortening the hospital stay for premature newborns and surgical patients. Musikgarten offers a sequential approach to music education for children from birth through instrumental instruction. There is a progression from semester to semester of musical patterns that are repeated and built upon.

Head Instructor - Angela Sawyer

angelic voices maple ridgeI am a local, Maple Ridge mom with three children and an amazing husband. I am originally from Edmonton, Alberta where I studied private voice lessons and then went on to study theatre at Red Deer College. I have trained in the Royal Conservatory of Music as well as Musical Theatre. After college, I pursued my passion in musical theatre and moved out to the West Coast where I have been seen around the Lower Mainland performing. Since becoming a mom, I decided to focus less on performing and more on teaching where a strong passion lies. I have been teaching music to children for well over 15 years.  One of my main passions lies in teaching music to children with varying learning challenges, such as autism, adhd and anxiety.  I love sharing my passion for music and the arts.

JamiMusic has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I sang in every choir and group that was available to me, throughout elementary, high school and college.  I am a firm believer that early introduction and regular involvement in music has a lasting and positive effect on children's lives.  I live in Maple Ridge with my loving husband, cat, and our quirky three year old son.  I graduated from Douglas College with my diploma in Performing Arts majoring in classical voice. I pride myself as an extremely patient person who loves to share knowledge and music with any and everyone.  I'm over the moon to be involved with Angelic Voices, and excited to instill a strong musical appreciation within our community's children and families.

I am a moIMG 1518m of two young boys and new to the Maple Ridge area. I grew up in a small town on Vancouver Island and love children. I have
always been drawn to music and, from a very early age, studied and participated in a variety of music programs. I am a firm believer that
music and the arts are essential to children and help give them balance and a creative outlet. I am so excited for this opportunity at
  Angelic Voices!

Even as a child, I knew that working with people was my vocation. As I got older, I learned that children and seniors are my calling. I grew up in Romania (the country where Dracula lives - to give you a reference, but we are not related at all!) and moved to Canada with my family as a teenager. Right after high school, I finished my Therapeutic Recreation Degree and worked with seniors in care homes for many years, leading a wide variety of activities for them, including music programs. I am married to a wonderful man and we have a beautiful daughter together. Music has been part of my childhood as I used to perform and sing in front of our church for almost every big holiday. As a young adult, I sang in the choir at church and helped with Sunday school. I’m a strong believer that music is therapeutic and beneficial from an early age to the end of our lives and I am extremely excited for this opportunity.
